What is Shellabration?

Greenport Shellabration, held the first weekend of December in Greenport Village, is an annual culinary celebration that showcases local shellfish and benefits Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program’s Back to the Bays Initiative and SPAT Program. Your contribution and participation helps fund CCE Marine’s habitat and shellfish restoration efforts, and public outreach and education initiatives. 2024 marks our 13th anniversary Shellabrating with over 1,000 supporters each year!

How to Shellabrate

2024 Greenport Shellabration marks our 13th anniversary Shellabrating with our supporters! It is traditionally held the first weekend of December in Greenport Village and has been enjoyed by thousands of "Shellabrants" through the years.

On Shellabration weekend, Greenport’s beloved restaurants offer special discounted food + drink pairings that support local seafood and beverage companies. Many boutiques and other merchants also offer special discounts and some even donate a portion of their proceeds directly to CCE Marine Program. Your Wristband allows you access to all of these deals and discounts. And you’ll kick off the day with complimentary raw bar oysters and drink tasting upon check in!

It’s a great way to explore the historic maritime culture of Greenport, eat local, and enjoy time with friends and family!

Shellabration Details

2024 Wristband pick-up + Check-in:

Wristbands are not mailed. They will be held for you under the name you reserved them under. Weekend Wristbands will be available for pick up beginning Saturday at 11am. Sunday Only Wristbands may only be picked up on Sunday beginning at 11am.

*WRISTBANDS MUST BE CLAIMED, AND RAW BAR AND DRINK TICKETS REDEEMED, BY 2PM!

2024 Check-in Locations:

Greenport Harbor Brewing Company / 234 Carpenter St.

Little Creek Oysters / 211 Carpenter St. (New location!)

First and South, Bar & Restaurant / 100 South St.

Our participating Greenport Shellabration establishments DO enforce the wristbands, and have planned to make available only as many of the pairing specials on their special Shellabration menus as there are participants in the event. We ask that you please not put any additional strain on them by trying to participate in the event without a wristband. Most restaurants are still serving their regular lunch menus, and have dining space available for those not participating in Shellabration, so by all means we invite you to enjoy these fantastic establishments if you are in Greenport during Shellabration weekend. Be sure to check out the many fun things happening in Greenport this holiday season and reserve those wristbands well in advance next year!

Call for Volunteers!

*We are all set this year. Thank you so much for the support!

It takes a lot of helping hands to make Shellabration successful as our largest annual fundraiser. We couldn’t do it without the help of our volunteers. If you are interested in helping out at one of our check-in locations, please email Darci Bielenda at db695@cornell.edu. Indicate your available times on Saturday or Sunday. With enough hands on deck, volunteers will be scheduled into 2-hour shifts (10:30-12:30 or 12-2) and get a free wristband to enjoy Shellabration.
